Not many people are aware of the miscellaneous factors that go into deciding how much they will be charged for their insurance cover. These are unspoken factors, but areas in your life that the company factor into your payments. These are various other factors that can affect the amount of a premium paid. These factors can include demographics such as what city you reside in, your gender, and occupation.

The Driver’s Gender:
If you were to ask the general public about the safety of driving based on gender, there would be mixed responses. However, the insuring company will usually treat women drivers as safer than male drivers. Therefore, in regards to a driver’s gender, some companies view women as more safe than men behind the wheel. So in some instances women may have less protection costs to pay. This can change with time as more women are driving on the roads, but definitely a factor to consider in the costs paid for your auto policies.

Married or Single:
You might be surprised to note that your marital status can affect the amount paid for an auto policy plan. Some companies will ask this information not just to include a spouse on the policy, but also in calculation of payments. Therefore, if a person is married, they can also pay less for premiums. A married person is viewed as less of a risk than someone who is single. This is regardless of the driving record. The insurance company views a married person as someone who will take less risk with their lives or the lives of their family. Not all insurers do so but your payments might be higher or lower depending on your marital status.

Occupation:
An insurer’s company may also decide to use your occupation to determine what to charge you. It can be all about risk when you compare car insurance and your level of risk to the insurer when deciding these payments. Your occupation may also be factored or considered when the insurer decides on what to charge. A person with an office job who just uses the car to drive to and from work might pay less for insurance than someone who is using the car to make deliveries or a salesman who is constantly on the road.
